My New Home on the Web. Here it is, my new website. You might wonder how come I have all these entries, before this one. Well that's because although the site was ready and I was making entries, I hadn't made it live yet. I'm hoping that this'll help keep my friends aware of what I'm up to, and my clients know where I've been and who I am. I'll enable comments shortly so you can tell me what you really think. |
Tommy Logik Where are You? Tommy's new site is going live today, I can't wait to see it! He did say he's got a few too many things on the table and might not make the inauguration deadline on the 20th though. I hope he makes it. |
A Kd Roadtrip. So I drove dad's car to Kaduna today. It's just a 2 to 3 hour drive but it was my first time driving on the interstate highway in Nigeria so it was quite an experience. I drove a steady 70mph and didn't like it when I took it to 80, I felt like I was flying and the steering wheel was slightly shaky. All in all it was uneventful except for what looked like a dead snake on the side of the road. It was red and at an odd angle but I was driving too fast to pay much attention. |
NYSC. I'm registered for the National Youth Service Corps. I'm hoping I get to do it in Abuja. If I do, I would like to do it with Design Studeo an interior design company in Abuja. They're planning to open a graphic design branch in 3 weeks which works out great cos we don't report to camp till March 3rd, then I think camp is about two to three weeks before we report to our work sites. I've heard all kinds of things about NYSC, good and bad. Everyone's in agreement that camp is hard, the soldiers are tough on everyone and the toilets suck. But the people you meet and friends you make are great. After that, the rest just depends on where your job site is, whether or not the pay is good, and the work is interesting. |
Platinum's History. Finally finished the website, I'm hoping I didn't miss anything. |
Waina on Wheels now in Abuja! If you're in Abuja, you can now order waina on wheels and it'll be delivered straight to your home or office. If you haven't had any before you should try some. To place an order, just call any of these numbers: |
Voanda Flyers.
So these are the flyers I designed for Voanda. My favorite is the first one with the yellow-orange and pink. Their favorite's are the first one and the last one that's purple. So let's hear it, what do you think? |
Gecko's in the house! Okay, so that heading makes it sound like a good thing, but it's not!! After a few weeks of peace the little critters are back! And as creepy as ever, now there're little baby Gecko's slithering around! Yuck! Atleast I haven't seen one in the bathroom for awhile. And I reiterate they're not cute like the Geico Gecko! They're translucent and *shudders* CREEPY! |
New Years Speech Anyone? Okay, so this year shall go down in my memory as the year of the New Years Speech. The Minister of the FCT was giving a speech on NTA as the year changed from 2008 to 2009. While our neighbors were unleashing fireworks and my sister and I were watching the clock, he was talking. He promised a lot of great things but he also made the people in the crowd miss the countdown. The NTA clock was at 12:05 and he was still talking. My sister and I started laughing, we couldn't believe our eyes. Then the MC of the occasion saved the day, he started counting down from 5 and at the end shouted happy new year! then the fireworks started. I know some people would be upset to find they missed the countdown, but I think it was Awesome! It certainly shook things up and gave me my first laugh of 2009. |
Platinum Presentation. The chairman called me today to find out how the site was going, then told me he was presenting to the Senate after the New Year in three days. I offered to make him a dvd and he loved the idea. I worked on it while working on the site, and managed to turn it in on time. I loved how it turned out I just didn't have enough time to play with audio so I left it blank. Apart from the sound, they loved it and his daughter said it was fit for TV. Quite an endorsement aye? |
Highschool Musical. Never quite understood the fuss over these movies. I saw parts of the 2nd one, but some of the songs annoyed me. My sister got the dvds so I finally watched the first one, and then saw the 2nd one from beginning to end, and now I must unfortunately admit that I'm officially a fan. Don't tell anyone though. shh. |
The First Wedding. So many questions about the wedding & requests for pictures have gone unanswered or cut short with the answers, it was great, I'll post them soon, and it was exhausting, glad it's over. But I know there're still those burning questions about my brother's big day. Well it was a series of weeks actually building up into a number of days culminating in a house full of people, and food, and noise and laughter and stories. There were lots of colorful clothes, people coming and going, drinks all around, kids making messes, food on the floor, more noise, a few moments of peace, catching up with friends, meeting unknown family members, remembering to eat, answering questions, directing people to the right places, greeting friends, hearing about family drama, and exhaustedly crashing late at night and falling into a deep slumber only to have to awaken at the crack of dawn. I remember the quiet after the guests had left. The adrenaline finally leaving, and the mess waving at us. I remember Hajjiya Jummai and her friend staying behind a few extra hours and working wonders with all those dishes, cleaning up the kitchen. Then us sweeping out the garbage, making the beds, finally turning on the washing machine again. Then relaxing over dinner, catching up with each other and reminiscing about the days, the events, and the people. Oh and finally seeing the incredibly shy bride! She was great at hiding, but I didn't seek to find her, I waited till the crowds left when she was more relaxed, and then saw her. And as I told Naima and Sura, waiting a few months, weeks, or days to see her make no difference cos once I do, then I'll be the same as everyone else. Oh and just so there's no confusion about the heading, I mean the first wedding in the nuclear family. |
